INDUSTRY RELATIONS

INDUSTRY RELATIONS is a central facility established at BSA Crescent Institute of Science & Technology, Industry Institute partnership cell (IIPC) is required for enhancing the relationship between the Institution and Industry. The purpose of this cell is to identify the trends and expectations and prepare students for meeting the latest requirements by facilitating internships in leading Manufacturing, IT / ITES, Retail services, Architectural firms, Organize Seminars, Workshops, Expert Talks and other Training programmes by experts and practicing architects.

  • To make our Institute the most preferred Institution for the Industry for finding the right candidates for recruitment
  • To create avenues for our students to have greater exposure to the Industry and its requirements

  • To synchronize the skills of our students with the requirements of Industry

Objectives of the Department

  • Developing close links between Industry-Institute by interaction programs.
  • Developing rapport with Industry leaders and finding avenues for mutual support.
  • Signing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) leading active partnership between our Institute and industry.
  • Identifying the present day and future requirements for professionals (engineers/technologists/ managers) and meeting the human resource needs.
  • Organizing seminars, Conference, exhibitions and workshops.
  • Collaborating with other societies (National and International) having similar objectives.

Goals

  • To establish a platform for enhancing relationship between BSACIST and the Industries.
  • To promote the partnership between the Institute and Industry to exchange the expertise of the experts from the Industry and the Institute.
  • Our students will be benefited due to the exposure to current industry practices , faculty members get sensitized to the latest practices leading them to blend real-time exposure with usual theoretical teaching methods.
  • IIPC-BSACIST has an advisory board with eminent people from Industries, R&D organizations, FICCI, CII, ASSOCHAM, MMA, Industry Associations, Entrepreneurs etc.

Functions of Industry – Institute Interaction

  • To give industrial exposure to Faculty members and students, thus enabling them to tune their knowledge to cope with the industrial culture.
  • To assist the Departments in organizing workshops, conferences and symposia with joint participation of the industries.
  • Encouraging Engineers from industries to visit institution to deliver lectures
  • Participation of experts from industries, in curriculum development
  • To organize industrial visits for Faculty members and students
  • To encourage Faculty members to use their expertise in solving the problems faced by the industries, thus creating opportunity for consultancy.
  • Industrial testing by Faculty and technician at site, or in laboratory
  • To organize in-plant training for the students.
  • To identify the areas for executive development programmes in the areas of recent technological advances.
  • To assist the Departments in establishing rapport with industries for taking up mini projects and projects.
  • To coordinate/ identify industrial partners for proposing ‘Centre for Excellence’.
  • To strengthen Alumni relations.
  • To assist the Training and Placement Division.
  • Visit of industry executives and practicing engineers to the institute for seeing research work and laboratories.
  • Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the institute and industries to bring the two sides emotionally and strategically closer.

Industry Institute Coordination

In order to promote the IIPC coordination and improve the industrial consultancy following activities are taken up by all the departments.

  • Arranging industry visits to students and faculty
  • Taking up industry oriented applied projects for final year UG and PG students
  • Inviting industry experts to deliver lectures in symposia, seminars and conferences organizing exhibitions / model contests / competitions to show case the efforts taken up by the students
  • Signing MoUs with industries and organizations for fruitful interaction
  • Conducting training programmes to industry personnel and provide Value added courses
  • Taking up consultancy services , testing support , product development and troubleshooting work for industries and so on

Industry Relations – Seminar/Webinar

 

1. Training Session on “Personality Development” for Female students

Industry Relations in association with Procter & Gamble conducted a Training Session on “Personality Development” for Female students on 30 Aug 2023 from 11.00 am to 12.40 pm in the Seminar Hall 1, Convention Centre. The session was conducted by a professional life-skills trainer Ms Sharmila, via a video presentation.
 
 
 

2. Industry Conclave & Release of Newsletter 

Industry Relations organized an “Industry Conclave 5.0” on 17 Aug 2023 from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm in the Auditorium for our 3rd & 4th yr. B.Tech students from CSE, IT, ECE, EEE, EIE and 3 yr. students from BSc CS & BCA.

Industry Relations – Industry Connect

1. Industry visit | Chennai Forge Products Pvt. Ltd

 Industry Relations in association with Department of Mechanical Engineering organized an Industry visit for our 3rd yr. B.Tech Mechanical students (Batch 1 & 2 of 40 students each) who visited Chennai Forge Products Pvt. Ltd on 10 Aug 2023 & 17 Aug 2023 at 10.30 am.
The visit was aimed at providing students with an opportunity to gain practical knowledge about the manufacturing of automotive parts using forging process and Vertical milling machine (VMM).
 
Mechanical students has the opportunity to understand the manufacturing process and interact with industry experts.

1. Personality Development Program on “Tips to crack your 1st Job interview”

The Industry Institute Partnership Cell in association with Hindustan Unilever Limited organized a Personality Development Program exclusively for female students on “Tips to crack your 1st job interview” on 14 September 2022 at 11.30 am in BOSCH Industry Academia Collaboration Centre, Room. No. 301, 3rd floor, Mechanical Sciences block. The Guest Speaker, Ms I. Rizwana via a video presentation explained the topic to the students.


2. Webinar on “How to Break into a Tech Career”

The Industry Institute Partnership Cell organized a Webinar on “How to Break into a Tech Career” virtually on zoom on the 28th of September, 2022 from 7.00 pm – 8.00 pm (IST).

3. ICT Academy – Learnathon 2022

ICT Academy is an Initiative of Government of India, State Governments and the Industry, is a not-for-profit autonomous organization having 1200 Higher Education Institution member base across Tamil Nadu. ICT Academy in association with Industry partners, launched the 5th Edition of ‘LEARNATHON 2022’ in September 2022.

An initiative to provide Free Self-Learning Courses on IT Skills by Leading Global Majors, exclusive for the students of ICT Academy Member Institutions. Students from ICT Academy Member Institutions (Arts and Science and Engineering and University and Polytechnic) across India registered for this event. 979 students from Crescent registered for this event.


4. Seminar on “Commercial Applications of Machine Learning”

The Industry Institute Partnership Cell organized a Seminar on “Commercial Applications of Machine Learning” by Mr. Aditya Sambamoorthy, Founder and CEO – InLustro on 8 Nov 2022 from 11.00 am to 12.40 pm for 3yr. BTech. Computer Science & Engineering students in Seminar Hall 1.

Coding Contest #5 on “Linked lists, stacks and queues” was conducted on 16th November 2022 from 9.00 am to 11.00 am, in the IOT Lab, 3rd floor, CSE Block & in the IT lab 1, Gnd floor, CSE Block.

L&T EduTech hosted a 2-day Faculty Development Program on “Emerging Smart Technologies” on 28th & 29th September 2022 in their campus in Manapakkam, Chennai, with the objective to provide educators with relevant Industry knowledge and awareness of the latest industry trends.

Dr.S.Kalaivani AP(Sr. Gr.) and Dr.Indra Gandhi AP(Sr. Gr.) from the ECE Department and Dr. R.Zahira AP from the EEE department participated in this FDP and received their “Certificates of Participation” from our Honorable Vice Chancellor on 12th Oct 2022 at 3.30 pm.

Shell India Internship Program for 2024 Batch!
Shell India has launched its “Shell Assessed Internship Programme-2023” for 2024 Batch Students of all branches and streams.

3. Renault Nissan

Mr Sai, Engineering Division, Renault Nissan visited our Institute on 15 April 2022 & interacted with the students regarding Campus Placements, Industry Institute Collaboration, etc ..


4. Guidance Tamil Nadu, Industries Department, Government of Tamil Nadu

Ms. Mathivathani, AVP (WorkLabs), Dr Devleena, AVP (Policy), Guidance Tamil Nadu, Industries Department, Government of Tamil Nadu visited our Institute on 19 Oct 2022 and expressed keen interest in Industry Institute Collaboration, Campus Placement, Research and Development, Research Fellowship, Seed fund, etc. …

The guidance department of TN has its special purpose as to collaborate the efforts of the Govt. of Tamilnadu, corporates and academic institutions.

Crescent is the 1st private university in Tamilnadu to be visited by the Guidance team.

They had a fruitful discussion with the Hon Vice Chancellor, Director – Placements & Training, Dean – Research, Dean – School of Electrical & Communication Sciences, HOD – Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering.


5. Industry visit – Intellect Design Arena Ltd., Siruseri, Chennai

The Industry Institute Partnership Cell in association with Department of Information Technology organized an Industry visit for our Final year BTech. IT students who visited “Intellect Design Arena Ltd.”, Siruseri, Chennai (A Polaris Group Company) on 28 Oct 2022 from 10.30 am to 1.00 pm.

Students got exposure and gained knowledge on “Design Thinking” during this Industry visit.

Webinar on
The Industry Institute Partnership Cell & Crescent Coding Club conducted a Webinar on “Introduction to Coding Interview Questions” on 29 January 2022 from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm. A brief introduction to the Coding club was presented. There were 5 coding questions discussed in the webinar – Anagrams, Frequency sort, Mirror tree, Let’s go Veg and Fibonacci and the solutions were explained by the Crescent Coding club Office bearers and the guest speaker.

 

7. Crescent Coding Club – Monthly Coding Contest #3

 

The Industry Institute Partnership Cell & Crescent Coding Club conducted the Monthly Coding Contest #3 on 18th March 2022 from 10.30 am to 12.00 pm. The contest was conducted on Hackerrank website at the Common Computing Lab in the Computer Science Block. There were 3 challenges included in the contest – Count Odd Numbers in an Interval Range, Equilibrium Index and Most Isolated Seats.

The contest was organized by the Crescent Coding Club Executive Officers under the guidance of Dr Ganesh K, Director – Industry Institute Partnership Cell. Mr John K Mathew, Coordinator – Industry Institute Partnership Cell also extended his extensive support in organizing the event.

The Industry Institute Partnership Cell & Crescent Coding Club conducted a Webinar on “An Introductory Programming Session and How to develop a simple snake game” by Mr. Rishub C. R. (B.Tech ECE – IV Year), Vice President – Crescent Coding Club on 11 June 2022 from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm.

 

9. Crescent Coding Club – Monthly Coding Contest #4

 

The Industry Institute Partnership Cell & Crescent Coding Club conducted the Monthly Coding Contest #4 on 10th June 2022 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm in the IBM Lab – Computer Science Block. The contest was conducted on Hackerrank website. Challenges included in the contest were – Left Rotation, Equilibrium Index & Climbing LeaderBoard.

The coding contest was organized by the Crescent Coding Club Executive Officers under the guidance of Dr Ganesh K, Director – Industry Institute Partnership Cell. Mr John K Mathew, Coordinator – Industry Institute Partnership Cell also extended his extensive support in organizing the event.

Inauguration of Industry- Academia Collaboration Centre (BSACIST – BOSCH)
BSACIST – BOSCH Industry Academia Collaboration Centre was inaugurated by our Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Dr A Peer Mohamed today (22.01.2021)at 10.30 am in the Mechanical Science block third floor in the presence of Dr. A. Azad, Registrar, Dr. Raja Hussain, Dy. Registrar, Mr. V. N. A. Jalal, Senior General Manager, Dr. K. Ganesh, Director Placement & Training, divisional Directors, Deans and HODs.

Dr. O. P. Goel, Senior General Manager, Head – Bosch India Foundation, CSR & Skill Development – Bangaluru informed all that BOSCH has selected only our institution among Tamil Nadu and Kerala for this purpose

This centre is fully funded by BOSCH through which skill-based training sessions, certification courses, funding support for International conferences, Fellowship, R&D, Placement and Internship opportunities can be availed by our students.


2. MOU signed with Flex Ltd.

Our Chancellor Mr BSA Arif Buhary Rahman along with our Vice Chancellor, Director – Industry Relations & HoD ECE, B. S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology visited the facilities of Flextronics on 3rd May 2021. Flex Ltd. (previously known as Flextronics International Ltd or Flextronics) is an American Singaporean domiciled multinational electronics contract manufacturer.

The main purpose of the visit was regarding educational Tie-up, Industry Institute partnership and in fostering internships & placements for our students.


3. Admission of Flextronics Employees to B.Tech. ECE under Lateral Entry Scheme

Our Institute has signed an MOU with Flextronics. Under this MOU, Flextronics Employees were admitted under the Lateral Entry Scheme in B.Tech. ECE.

Crescent has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with L&T.

L&T team had visited our campus on 6 Sept 2021 and had discussions regarding course collaborations, placement and internships with our Honorable Vice Chancellor & Beloved Registrar, SMB Sir, Additional Registrar, Sr.GM Sir along with the Deans and HoDs.


 

5. Industry visit – Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) – EXCON, Bengaluru

 

The Industry Institute Partnership Cell jointly with the School of Infrastructure – Department of Civil Engineering organized an Industry visit for our first Year M.Tech. Construction Engineering & Project Management (CEPM) students who visited CII EXCON, Bengaluru on 20.5.2022 to get an exposure on various construction equipment’s & its technologies and also to gain knowledge in the course CED6224 – Construction Equipment Management.

16 students of M.Tech CEPM and the staff coordinator Mr. A. Sheik Farid visited CII EXCON, Bengaluru.

7. University visit – Gibraltar Partner from Qatar

 

Mr Khader Peer Shariff & Mr. Sateesh from Gibraltar Technologies & Mr. Naveen Balakrishnan, Service Delivery head of Mannai HP solutions Compute and Print Solutions, Qatar visited us on 26 July 2022 @ 11 am and had fruitful discussions & Industry Interactions regarding the internships for our students for FIFA World Cup needs, etc.
