Crescent Innovation & Incubation Council (CIIC), Chennai has celebrated the inauguration of the Incubation Centre & Bio-Incubator BIONEST on 27th February 2020. CIIC was inaugurated by Dr. Manish Diwan, Head SPED-BIRAC, Department of Biotechnology Government of India along with Dr. Mohit Gambhir, Innovation Director from MHRD, New Delhi and Mr. Suresh Kumar, President ISBA with more than 300 delegates including Central & State government officials, industry representatives, other incubator executives, startups, investors, professional like doctors, scientists, teaching faculties etc. pan India.CIIC Centre for Life Sciences funded by BIONEST was inaugurated by Dr. Chayya Chauhan, Incubation Manager, SPED-BIRAC, GoI. Greenhouse with Artificial Intelligence Controllers jointly developed by CIIC startups Agrit Solutions Pvt. Ltd.& Farmagain Pvt. Ltd. was also inaugurated.
CIIC board members Mr. Abdul Qadir AR Buhari (Pro-Chancellor, BSACIST), Mr. Khalid Buhari & Dr. A. Azad (Registrar, BSACIST) along with University board members Mr. Ahmed Buhari, Mr. Ashraf Buhari and Ms. Mariam Habeeb & Dr. Peer Mohamed (Incharge VC) were felicitated. During the ceremonyCIIC advisory members Mr. Chandu Nair & Reji Joseph from Chennai Angels along with core partners including Mr. Balram Nair Chennai Angels, Dr. Saravanakumar General Manager Mehtas Hospital, YNOS Venture Engine, RBL Bank, Rocheston LLC, Chettinad Research and Academy Institute and others were felicitated.
CIIC commenced its operation in March 2019 as a vision of creating successful & profitable entrepreneurs.In the past 11 months, CIIC has incubated 36 startups, out of which 13 are founded/ cofounded by Women and 8 startups are founded/ cofounded by Alumni of Crescent University. Also 14 startups from Students of Crescent University has been nurtured. CIIC’s exponential growth was only possible because of Govt of India DBT- BIRAC BIONEST Grant of Rs.1.8 Crores which also made CIIC financially independent. CIIC also one of the active Institutional Innovation Council (IIC) established by MHRD Innovation Cell (MIC). Entrepreneurship Development Innovation Institute (EDII), Govt. of Tamil Nadua not-for- profit society and is administered by Department of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME)has supported 5 CIIC startups in total with Rs.19 Lakhs grant under their flagship Innovation Voucher Program (IVP).
