Crescent School of Pharmacy, B. S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology, Vandalur, Chennai is organizing a Breast Cancer Awareness and Breast Cancer Screening Program on 4th February 2022 as a part of World Cancer Day. This event is jointly organized with Women Empowerment Cell of B. S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology, Vandalur along with India Turns Pink, an NGO. This program is aimed to create awareness and provide professional counselling about breast cancer among the women staffs of the Institute.
This awareness drive is conducted in support with India Turns Pink (ITP), a non-profit organization whose sole objective is to create breast cancer awareness among women of all sections of the society by providing early detection and facilitates its cure through their organization. ITP intensely involves in providing physical, psychological, emotional and monetary support to those who are battling the ailment. The organisation work towards a common motive of inculcating in the minds of women community that breast cancer is curable if detected at an early stage and also helps in alleviating the fear and myth about the disease. The NGO continue their service by continuously organising seminars, workshops, medical camps to create awareness, improve the medical support and other related programmes and march towards a single goal to reach breast cancer-free India by 2030.
Dr. J. Radhakrishnan, IAS, Principal Health Secretary, Government of Tamil Nadu presided and addressed the gathering, as the Chief Guest for this grand event. The dignitaries from BSACIST; Dr. A. Peer Mohammed, Vice-chancellor, Dr. A. Azad, Registrar, Dr. N. Raja Hussain, Additional Registrar, Mr. V.N.A Jalal, Senior General Manager, Dr.Karthikeyan Ramalingam, Dean Student Affairs, Dr.Yogeswari, member, Women Empowerment of the University will grace the occasion. The dignitaries from ITP Mr.SuriyaPrakash, Head Airport projects, Mr. P. A. Anandakumar, Founder cum President, Mrs.SangeethaPalani of ITP, Dr. R. Suresh Kumar, HOD of Microbiology, Government Siddha Medical College, Dr.Revathi Rajesh, ITP panel Doctor and Mrs.RekhaNair, a pink ambassador of ITP will share their initiatives and expertise in educating the women fraternity towards breast cancer awareness.
It has been planned to conduct a breast cancer screening program using thermal screening (non-invasive) method as a part of the event. The program is expected to be attended and benefitted by the faculties and non-teaching faculties of Crescent School of Pharmacy and women faculties of the University.
