Achievements-2018
All India Inter University Ball Badminton Tournaments for Men 2018-19

Our institute won the winning position in the All India Inter University Ball Badminton Tournaments for Men 2018-19 organised by SRM Institute, Potheri from 12th to 16th December – 2018 and nearly 100 Universities from all over India have participated in this Tournament. This is the greatest achievement by our students putting their hard work & dedication. We are thankful to our beloved Chancellor, Pro Chancellor, Vice Chancellor, Registrar, Dean Students (Affairs) for congratulating our students.

All India Level Inter Collegiate Ball Badminton (Men) Tournament – 2018

Our Institute Ball Badminton (Men)Team Participated and Won the Runners – Up Position with Cash Award Rs. 12,000/- (Twelve Thousand) in the State Level One Senior Ball Badminton Tournament – 2018 organised by Southern Railway Institute,Golden Rock Ponmalai,Trichy on 18th & 19th August -2018. Our Men Team received Trophy & Cash Award from Honourable Minister Mr.M.Kumar, Member of Parliament,Trichy during Prize Distribution function on 19th August – 2018 and also our Team won the Third Position with Cash Award Rs. 10,000/- (Ten Thousand) in the All India Inter Collegiate Ball Badminton (Men) Tournament – 2018 organised by SRM Institute, Potheri from 22nd to 24th August – 2018.

National / State Level Karate Championship – 2018

Mr.R.Suriya of I BBA won the First Place in the State Level Open Karate Championship -2018 (56 Wt/Senior/ Men category/Kata event ) held at Avadi, Chennai on 18th August -2018 and he also won the Best performance Award in this Competition organised by Shobukai NihonShitoryu Karate Do Federation of India and also won the Silver Medal in National Level Karate Open Championship-2018 held at J.J Stadium,Chennai on 19th August-2018.

National Level Archery Championship – 2018

Mr.N.Hemprasanth of III ECE won the Bronze Medal in the National Level Open Archery Championship -2018 (Recurve/Senior/ Men category ) held at Namakkal on 2nd & 3rd August -2018 organised by Sports Development Authority of Tamilnadu (SDAT), Namakkal Unit.

National / South India Level Karate Championship – 2018

Mr.V.Naveen Kumar of III MCA won the Gold Medal in the National Level Mabuni Cup -2018 Karate Championship -2018 (60 Kg Wt / Senior/ Men category/ Kumite – Individual event ) held at Mysore , Karnataka on 25th & 26th August -2018 and he has been selected for Asian Championship – 2018 will be held at Indonesia and also won the Gold Medal in Heroshn Ryu Karate Do India,South India Level Karate games Championship -2018 (21 age category / Kumite- Individual Event) and won Bronze medal in Kata Event in the same Competition.

State Level Ball Badminton Staff (Men & Women) Mixed Combined Tournaments

Our Institute Ball Badminton Staff (Men & Women) Mixed Combined Team Participated and Won the Winners Position in the State Level Buck Memorial Tournament – 2018 organised by YMCA College of Physical Education, Chennai on 1st & 2nd August -2018.
The Players are: Dr.P.Sheik Abdul Khader – Prof / CA (Captain), Dr. R.Auvai – Director / PED, Mr.T.Velmurugan – PTI, Dr. M.P.Srinivasan – Asst.Lib / Law, Dr. N.Hajara Beevi – Prof / Chem, Mr. N.Rajendran – AP (Sr.Gr) / IT, Mrs. Saira Banu – AP(Sr.G) / CSE.

State Level Ball Badminton (Men) Tournaments

Mr. M.Gunasekaran – Fitness Instructor & Trainer won Mr. Tamilnadu Award in State Level Body Building Championship -2018(60 kg Weight Category) organized by Tamilnadu Amateur Body Building Association held atAmbedkarThidal, Chennai on 18th March – 2018 and he also won the Bronze Medal in Mr. Kanchi -2018 Body Building Championship held at Pammal, Chennai on 11.03.2018 and he also won Silver Medal in State Level Body Building Championship Mr.Tamilnadu – 2018organised by Indian Body Building Federation held at Bhathavachelan Women’s Memorial College , Korattur, Chennaion 01.04.2018 and also won Gold Medal in the State Level Body Building Championship Mr.Tamilnadu – 2018 organised by Tamilnadu Body Building Association held at Anna Arangam, kancheepuram on 08.04.2018 and he also won Silver Medal in ICF Chennai Inter District Championship 2018 on 29.04.2018 and won Bronze Medal in Pondy&Tamilnadu Inter State Level Body Building Championship on 14.04.2018.

Our Badminton Women team player Ms.S.A.Ramya – I B.Tech (E & I) won the RGOI Rural games National Pro League Badminton Championship-2018 (above 19 years category) at Pune, Maharashtra on 29th& 30th April-2018 organised by Rural Games Organization of India affiliated to World Rural Games Organization.

Our Badminton Men team player Mr.S.A.Rajaram – I B.Tech (Mech) won the RGOI Rural games NationalPro League Badminton Championship-2018 (above 19 years category) at Pune, Maharashtra on 29th & 30th April-2018 organised by Rural Games Organization of India affiliated to World Rural Games Organization.
Our University Football team won the Runners Up position in the 18th State Level Founder’s trophy Football tournament for men with a cash prize of Rs.3,000 organized by our Institute and also Mr.K.S.L.Mohamed Sadakatullah – III B.Tech (Civil) won the Best player Award in this tournament.
Our Institute Foot Ball (Men) team Won the Runners Up Position in the State level Inter Collegiate Foot Ball (5’s) Tournament organized by Jeppiaar Institute of tech, Chennai on 4th & 5th April – 2018.
Our Ball Badminton Men team won the Runners Up position in the 10th State Level Silver Jubilee Trophy Ball Badminton tournament with a cash prize of Rs. 3,000 organized by our Institute on 23rd & 24th January-2018. Our Men team won the District level ‘B’ Grade Tournament with a cash prize of Rs. 5,000 Organized by Crystal Ball Badminton Club held at KarpagaVinayaga College of Engg. Madurantagam on 28th January 2018 and also two of our students Mr. N. Gopinath – III B.Tech (P.E) & K.Arun Kumar – IV B.Tech (EEE) got the best Player awards. Our Ball Badminton team Men won the State Level one Senior Ball Badminton Tournament with cash prize of Rs. 15,000 organized by Himalayan Ball Badminton club, Tirupur on 3rd& 4th February 2018 and Mr. N. Gopinath – III B.Tech (Polymer) got the best Player award. Our Ball Badminton Men team won the State Level one Senior Ball Badminton Tournament with cash prize of Rs. 15,000 organized by Himalayan Ball Badminton club, Tirupur on 3rd & 4th February 2018 and Mr. N. Gopinath- III B.Tech (Polymer)got the best Player award.
Our Ball Badminton Men Team participated in the All India Inter University Ball Badminton Men Tournament 2017-18 held at Yogi Vemana University, Kadapa (AP).
Ms.S.Meenakshi Subasri – II B.Tech (CSE ‘B’) won the Runners Up Position in Kancheepuram District Association Ella Rajamanickam Memorial open Table Tennis Tournament-2018
Mr. R.Loyd Vergil – I B.Tech (E&I) won the Third place in Singles in the IV Rural Games Federation Cup 2017-18 Badminton Tournament held at Cuddalore from 19th to 21st January-2018 and also won the Chennai District Badminton Championship-2018 (in U19 Category) organized by Vellammal New Gen Fireball Badminton Academy, Chennai from 20th to 22nd April-2018.
Mr. N.Vignesh – IVB.Tech (Auto) won Silver Medal in Senior State Level Body Building Competition held at Avadi, Chennai on 7th January-2018.
Mr. S.A.Rajaram won the second place in Singles & Doubles in the IV Rural Games Federation Cup 2017-18 Badminton Tournament.
Ball Badminton Women Team Players
  • Two of our Ball Badminton Women Team Players Ms. M.Keerthana – II MBA& Ms. S.Yasmin- II M.Tech (E&I) were selected to represent the Tamilnadu State Ball Badminton Team which won the Third position in the Senior National Ball Badminton Tournament organized by Haryana Ball Badminton Association, Haryanaheld at National Public School, Gurugram, Haryana from 5th to 9th January-2018.
  • Ms. P.V.S.N. Jayalakshmi – III B.Tech(P.E)was selected to represent Andhra State Ball Badminton Women team which won the Fourth position in the Senior National Ball Badminton Tournament organized by Haryana Ball Badminton Association, Haryanaheld at National Public School, Gurugram, Haryana from 5th to 9th January-2018 and also won second position in Mixed Doubles in the same Tournament .

  • Our Management takes keen interest by encouraging Sports activities in our University and has decided to admit Outstanding Sports persons under Sports Quota every year.
  • Our management has awarded full scholarships to 102 outstanding sports persons so far.
  • Our management is also awarding cash prizes to sports persons who have won prizes at the National level and state level tournaments every year.

Selection trials are conducted to select the Men and Women Ball Badminton players under sports Quota during second week of May every year.
The selected students are given full scholarship in Tution fees and free hostel accommodation and boarding facility

Highlights of the Tournaments
  • Attractive Cash Prizes are awarded to 4 Prize Winners in each game (Foot Ball – Men, Basket Ball – Men,Ball Badminton – Men and Ball Badminton Women)in addition to Rolling Trophies, Individual Prizes, and Certificates.
  • Free boarding and lodging facilities are provided to all participants in the State Level tournaments being organized Physical Education Department.
  • Cash Prizes are awarded every year to outstanding Sportspersons who win Prizes at the National Level and State Level tournaments /Competitions during the sports day function.
  • Special Prizes are awarded to two outstanding all round Sports persons(one in Men Section and another in Women Section) who excel in the various tournaments (Best Sportsman and Best Sportswoman award)
AWARDS Our College won the Anna University Zonal Champion College Award for 6 consecutive years from 2003-04 to 2008-09 by winning maximum number of events during each year. ALL INDIA INTER UNIVERSITY PARTICIPATION Our University teams are regularly participating in the South Zone and All India Inter University tournaments in Foot Ball Men, Badminton (Men &Women), Ball Badminton (Men and Women), Kabaddi (Men), Volley Ball (Men & Women), Basket Ball (Men & Women), Tennis Men and Athletics Men from the First Year onwards. MAJOR TOURNAMENTS ORGANISED TAMILNADU INTER ENGG. SPORTS (TIES-2001) Our College had the honour of organizing a mega sports festival called TIES-2001 during January 23 – Feb 4 2001. Around 10,000 sports persons (Men & Women) from 86 Engineering College from all over the state participated in 25 disciplines spread over 13 days. Accommodation and Boarding facility were provided to all the participants, Team Managers, officials, staff and students’ volunteers and systematic planning and Execution of work in all aspects of the organization of TIES brought appreciation from all quarters as the best organized TIES. ALL INDIA INTER UNIVERSITY BALL BADMINTON WOMEN TOURNAMENT Our University had the honour of organizing All India Inter University Ball Badminton women tournament during the year 2014-15.Around 800 players from 80 Universities across the country participated in the tournament.Free boarding facility was provided to Team managers ,Officials & volunteers and boarding at nominal rate was provided to all participants.   • Table Tennis (Men), Carrom (Men), Throw Ball (Women) and Carrom (Women).Intramural Competitions (Intra university events)More and more Students (around 2000 Students) are attracted towards participation in various sports activities in our campus. In order to encourage all the participating students, Intramural Competitions are conducted on inter year basis in all the games and Athletics every year. Prizes and certificates are awarded to Prizes winners and Trophies are awarded to overall Champions in both Categories in the Annual Sports day being organized every year.     Academic Year Event
    2015-2016 National Sports Organization (NSO)1. NSO Classes are conducted during last period everyday during the 1st Semester and 2nd Semester. 2. All Students from first year B.Tech, B.Arch Courses attend NSO Classes every Year. 3. Students are engaged by three staff members of Physical Education Department. 4. The Staff members are engaging students for a total of 6 hours a week. 5. During NSO period, the students are trained in physical fitness for few periods. 6. The students are taught and given training in various sports skills during certain classes. 7. Students take part in minor games and recreational activities during some classes. 8. Students are taught various rules and regulations in each game / event during NSO Classes.
    Selection trials were conducted Selection trials were conducted in all the games and events during the beginning of the academic year. Men and Women teams were selected during the trials for participating in Various Inter University and Inter Institutional tournaments.
    Coaching Camps organized Coaching Camps are being organized for Men & Women teams daily in all games & Athletic events to improve the skills and fitness level for better performance in various competitions.

    2015-2016 Annual Sports day is being celebrated every year in a grand manner. Intra University matches are being conducted in 11 games for Men Section, 9 games for Women section during the months of January, February and March. Around 600 Men Students and 300 Women Students
    2014-2015 participate in various events. In addition to that around 300 Men and Women Athletes compete in 15 Athletic events and 13 events respectively in Heats, Trials and Finals of various events. Swimming competition is conducted for Men students. During Annual Sports day,
    2012-2013 selected few Athletic events for Men and Women Students, few events for Men & Women Staff are conducted. Inaugural ceremony with March past by students (inter year basis), followed by Olympic torch bearing and Oath taking by captain of various games is organized. Medals and
    2011-2012 Certificates are awarded to first two prize Winners in all the games and three prize Winners in Athletics and swimming competition. Trophies are awarded to Men and Women individual champions separately and Rolling Trophies are awarded to overall team champion for Men &
    2010-2011 Women separately. Special Cash Prizes are awarded to sports persons who have won prizes at the National level, State Level and University Level competitions during sports day function.
    2009-2010 Special Trophies are awarded to Best Sports man and Best sports woman respectively.
